It’s a new day for Saudi Arabia indeed.

After making waves earlier this year for finally overturning a ban on women drivers, Saudi Arabia has marked another significant change: the country is allowing movie theaters to open for the first time in over 35 years, according to reports!

Movie theaters in Saudi Arabia were closed in the 1980s following a wave of ultraconservatism in the country, where Western movies, as well as films from Egypt and Lebanon were seen as sinful.

The movie is yet another social reform by the young crown prince, 32-year-old Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and another welcome change in the ultraconservative Arabic kingdom. The prince, who lifted a ban on women driving and sought to bring back concerts and other entertainment, is reportedly supported by his father, King Salman.
