The Miss Universe 2017 candidates made a trip to the beautiful islands of the Philippines, where the candidates were treated to the crystal blue waters, white sand beaches, and other breathtaking nature spots in the country!
The trip was spearheaded by the Department of Tourism for their contest called #BringHomeaFriend where Filipinos can win a trip for their friends outside the Philippines.
The Miss Universe beauties traveled around Bohol, Camiguin, and Batanes to get a glimpse of what the Philippines has to offer.
Besides the white-sand beaches, volcanic springs and awesome waterfalls, Camiguin is also known for its sea glass accessories.
Miss Italy Maria Polverino, Miss Netherlands Nicky Opheij, Miss Canada Lauren Howe, Miss Spain Sofia del Prado, Miss USA Kára McCullough, Miss Korea Sewhee Choo, Miss Singapore Manuela Bruntraeger and Miss India Shraddha Shashidhar — got up up close with Camiguin’s sea glass jewelry.
What makes the jewelry unique is they are made out of bottle shards are picked up by little kids from the shore. In turn, these are created into accessories by the women in the community.
