8. Batanes, Philippines
Let’s start off with one of Philippines’ best. Batanes is definitely one of the most beautiful destinations in the Philippines, and it is easy to see why. The majestic cliffs, the rocky shores, and crashing waves—the grandeur of Batanes’ landscapes will make you feel both small and grand at the same time. With a place as special as this one, you’d want your friends enjoying all those things there with you, we’re telling you.
7. Coron, Philippines
Island hopping? There’s no better place to do that than in the best island in the world: Palawan. And whether you’ve been to this little paradise before or not, the experience just isn’t the same if you don’t have your crazy friends there on the boat with you. Snorkeling, diving, or just chilling under by the sea, Coron is the perfect destination for ocean lovers.
6. Indochina (Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam)
Ready to take things up a notch? Nothing spells ultimate travel goals like a backpacking trip with your best buddies across Asia’s most popular backpacking trail—Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. This city north of Thailand has a quiet charm that lures travelers in, and it’s something you need to experience to understand. Plus, Chiang Mai is also the home to many elephant sanctuaries, which surely your entire group would enjoy. I mean, come on. You and your beshies bathing a lovely elephant in a muddy river in Thailand? It doesn’t get any more #barkadagoals than that!
Chiang Mai is also home of the internationally-known Yee Peng festival, a super magical Buddhist lantern festival that is worth a spot in anyone’s travel bucket list.
2. Cruising Taiwan and Hong Kong
Just in case you and your barkada are feeling a little extra, why not go on a cruise? Can you imagine how much fun that would be, traveling around Asia in a luxurious cruise ship??? Our suggested route—Manila, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Taiwan and Hong Kong are both amazing countries with endless things to see and great food!
1. Bagan, Myanmar
Picture this. Sunrise in a foreign land, and hot air balloons rising to the sky above 2,000 Buddhist pagodas scattered in a vast, lush field of green. This is what mornings in Bagan are like. Imagine how postcard-perfect (or IG-worthy) that would be! This ancient city in magical Myanmar is a constant in every traveler’s bucket list, and should be in your barkada’s dream trips, too.
