As a follow-up to the 2013 sci-fi film, Pacific Rim is about to return to the big screen with Pacific Rim 2: Uprising. The science fiction monster film is based on the story by Mexican film director, writer, producer, and novelist Guillermo del Toro. According to the the film’s page, Pacific Rim: Uprising will unravel with the following plot:
It has been ten years since The Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes when the Kaiju threat returns.
Starring Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ John Boyega in the lead role as Jake Pentecost alongside Scott Eastwood as Nate Lambert, Pacific Rim: Uprising hits the theaters on March 2018.
