The battle for equality seems to be never ending, however, we need not worry because there will always be champions who will continue to push and fight the good fight.
Yesterday, the LGBT community in Taiwan rejoiced in victory as their court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. The Taiwan LGBT Family Rights Advocacy organized a rally as they monitored the developments of the hearing and cheered in celebration as the ruling was announced. The legislative courts have given the Taiwanese government a span of two years to amend the civil code and enact new laws to accommodate their decision.
Taiwan has made a huge step and is now the first ever country in Asia to recognize same-sex marriage. LGBT groups are hoping that this will serve as an example and pave the way to the legalization of equal marriage across all Asian countries.
