April 25, 2016 (MANILA, Philippines) – In a world where every surface and every page – real or virtual – is a potential ad space, people are conditioned daily to want and to buy everything from dishwashing liquid to designer wear. With every purchase, people take home more than just the product sold but also the messages and values tucked into one neat package.
This summer 2016, Out of the Box (OOTB), together with the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), kicks off the 2nd Spoof Ads Competition all over the Philippines. The goal? To reconstruct an advertisement to convey a more truthful and critical message by altering images, words, and visual techniques.
OOTB and YSEALI invite all Filipino high school and college students to join. Simply form a team of three, either all in high school or all in college, then register online at https://goo.gl/forms/PJxynqSTrw. Registration is open until April 30, 2016 while entries can be submitted online until May 18, 2016.
All spoofed advertisements will be uploaded on OOTB’s Facebook page, while the top 5 under the two categories (high school and college) will be exhibited in participating universities. Cash prizes and freebies await the winners on May 24, 2016. As a bonus, the champions in the college division will get free passes to OOTB’s 2nd Bootcamp to be held on May 28, 2016 in Baguio City.
