Guardians of the Galaxy was one of those superhero movies that I was pleasantly surprised by. While I am a fan of the Marvel Universe, I was never well-versed in the GotG world. I didn’t get excited when the trailer came out and someone actually had to force me to watch the movie in the cinemas. After watching the movie, however, I easily fell in love with the Guardians. I loved the music, the cast, the humour and the storyline so much that I started a Baby Groot toy collection.
So, now that the sequel is near, I obviously had to share my excitement with my fellow GotG fans out there:

Both Chris Pratt and James Gunn have posted this photo on their social media accounts and I couldn’t me more stoked. Just look at Baby Groot up there! Gunn says that official photography on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has started. I’m hoping for more photos to come soon! 🙂
4. The cast is still intact.
I’m not a big fan of cast members getting replaced, especially when I’ve already come to love them in their roles, but sadly that happens a lot (I can’t even count how many times Batman and The Hulk have already broken my heart). So, when James Gunn announced that Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn and Glenn Close would all be returning,  I breathed a sigh of relief. I’m still hoping that Baby Groot will remain a baby for a while, though.
3. Kurt Russell is joining the cast.
I grew up watching Stargate (which I strangely loved) and spent my latter high school years obsessing over Quentin Tarantino movies (Death Proof and Grindhouse!!!), so I was very excited to hear that Kurt Russell would be joining the cast of the GotG sequel. It was pretty much the same feeling I felt when Russell Crowe was cast as Jor-el in Superman.
2. Moon Knight might be in it.
As with other superhero movies out there, fanatics have been musing as to which new characters might be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. A lot of people and websites seem to think that Moon Kinight might be appearing in the sequel, though the reason behind these rumours isn’t very convincing.
See, James Gunn has been hinting that they will be veering away from the comic book storyline, meaning that J’Son probably won’t be in it. And then he tweeted: “There is no J’Son in the MCU (unless, in the future, that’s the name Moon Knight’s stoner neighbor gives himself)”. To me, that sounds like a harmless joke. To the rest of the fans, though, it apparently sounds like a hint. Let’s wait and see.
1. There will be a new soundtrack to obsess about.
The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is one of my favorite soundtracks to date! There is no song in it that I don’t like and it never fails to perk up my mood. If the next soundtrack is anywhere close to doing the same thing, then that is one soundtrack I definitely want to get my hands on stat!
