Bangkok… It’s my 2nd time to visit this year and I really really feel blessed to go back where my heart is. This whole trip was one of my most memorable journeys ever, as it was my first time to travel abroad ALONE. Yeah, alone in a non-English speaking country for 10 days without an itinerary. I thought it was a crazy idea at first, but in the end, I decided to give it a go!
The 1st thing I did of course, was book a flight. I had all the time in the world so I didn’t mind booking an AirAsia flight to Bangkok with a short stopover (Fly Through) in Kuala Lumpur. I tried out their Premium Flex service where I got to be entitled with a whole lot of perks like re-scheduling flights, more leg room, priority boarding and more for paying only a few extra pesos. I just had to save myself from potential hassles since I was traveling alone so I didn’t hesitate to get the Premium Flex.
I was the 1st one to board the plane for being a Premium Flex passenger. Awesome!!
Next, was finding a nice hotel that will serve as my home in Bangkok. Many suggested I stay in a hostel but I tend to be picky with the places I stay in, especially in terms of security since I carry my camera gear all the time along with gadgets I use for work. I always book via Agoda.com because they never fail to offer low low rates. IÂ found this lovely looking hotel named Sukhumvit 12 Bangkok Hotel & Suites right at the center of Bangkok’s bustling Sukhumvit business and leisure district.
Though he could hardly speak English, my taxi driver did his best to make me feel at ease.
After almost a full day of flying and being lost in translation at the Don Mueang Airport, I arrived at the hotel around 11pm feeling sooooo drained….

Upon reaching the front office, I felt worried since I didn’t have enough Baht for the incidental deposit for I only had pesos that time. I was so relieved when the Front Office staff told me I can deposit my peso instead. I was so impressed with the warm genuine treatment that I felt so safe and at home. They also advised me that I was getting a room upgrade which got me even more excited!
I forgot all my stresses as soon as I entered my Executive Suite. It was amazing! It had everything I ever wanted and needed… a spacious living room, a kitchenette, dining area, spacious bathroom with tub and a super cozy room with fast wi-fi, cable tv and a huge comfy bed. Aaaaaaah this is the life! I knew then, that my solo Bangkok trip was gonna be epic!
Felt so happy and proud for making it in Bangkok alone… this calls for a selfie!!
I slept for a couple more hours the following day since I knew I’ll be needing extra energy. Good thing I wasn’t too late for breakfast so I immediately went to their restaurant at the 2nd floor called Boccone Trattoria.

The restaurant may be relatively small compared to the other hotels I’ve been to, but the food was really great, not to mention the al-fresco dining experience overlooking the pool and garden…
I didn’t mind the hot humid Bangkok weather that day, for I was mesmerized with my surroundings. The hotel’s color scheme was sooooo relaxing and the pool looked inviting. The lush greens and purple orchids all over the place made the whole experience so delightful!
And then there was food….. MMMMMmmmmmm it was spot on!
Missed Thai food for many months that every bite felt heavenly.
After that lovely meal, I then toured the place to take more photos. Let me show you around….

I remember spending hours chillaxing at this very area… it felt so zen. Good thing I bought my ever handy Quikpod with me so I was able to take a photo of myself (pardon the awkward smile as I’m not used to taking selfies).
In times when I needed to go out, they had a free Tuk-tuk service always ready!
Staying at Sukhumvit 12 Bangkok Hotel & Suites definitely made my solo Bangkok experience both meaningful and memorable that I’m highly recommending it to anyone who plans to go to Bangkok. Here, I felt so relaxed and at ease for their staff made sure I was safe, comfortable and that all my needs were met. From the impeccable service, amenities, food offerings and reasonable rates, you can never go wrong with Sukhumvit 12 Bangkok Hotel & Suites. Definitely a MUST experience hotel when in Bangkok!
