Aiming to explore the dynamic and ever-changing dimensions of the local Tourism industry, a group of pioneering students from the University of Philippines’ Asian Institute of Tourism (UP-AIT) will be holding the event- Tourism University (TOUR U) on November 29 2014 at the UP School of Economics Auditorium, from 1 to 7pm

Anchored on the theme- “Progressive Tourism: Exploring New Opportunities,” Tour U is a convention meant to highlight the Tourism industry as more than just travelling, but as a living entity that is currently transforming. It is open not only for tourism students, but for anyone who is interested to dive head-first into the intricacies of Tourism. The program intends to broaden students’ knowledge about Tourism and its endless possibilities, while also inculcate them with knowledge and insights from Tourism practitioners and experts.

Interesting talks will be delivered by experts in the Tourism industry: Carlos Libosada Jr. and April Cuenca and Luz Marian Estanislao. Carlos is one of the founders of My Travel Asia, an online and mobile travel agency, which launched several iPhone applications on travel. He will talk about the opportunities brought about by the UNESCO inscription of the Mt. Hamiguitan Wildlife and Sanctuary. April, on the other hand, is the co-founder and CEO of Fliptrip.ph, which serves as an online travel booking platform that focuses on off-the-beaten path travel destinations. She will be discussing start-ups in the Tourism industry. Luz is an aviation professional based in Etihad Airways. She has a solid experience in the sector starting from ground handling to being employed by Etihad Holidays to Etihad Procurement Office.  Simultaneously, there will be an exhibition from the Travel Trade, and Education sector wherein visitors can look into continuing education, internship and travel opportunities.

The night will be capped-off with fantastic performances by Ransom Collective and Ourselves the Elves. The convention will be hosted by Miss Earth Philippines 2012 Eco Tourism winner, and ANC Trippers co-host, Ms. Candice Ramos. Tons of prizes, including travel vouchers courtesy of ProoPH, will also be given away to lucky participants.

The organizers wish to invite everyone to a day of 7 Es: an Exciting, Enriching, Expanding, and Empowering Event of Enjoyable Exploration.
