In its celebration of 38 years of exhibiting true talent, the Tanghalang Batingaw would be having its Anniversary show on August 6-8, with short plays which would coincide with their Social Networking Site theme, entitled Diskonek.

 

As a part of this year’s celebration, we are inviting everyone to watch our theater play this coming August 6, 7, 8, at the JPL Hall of Freedom. The shows on August 6, Wednesday would be 10 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm, while the August 7 & 8, Thursday and Friday shows would only be 8 am and 10 am. The ticket price would be 75php for individuals, but 60 php for a group of five people. The Anniversary show is headed by the Production Manager Jacqueline Chua, assisted by Beverly Cumla. “Social networking. Taga-ubos ng baon ng mga estudyante. Taga patay ng oras ng mga empleyado sa opisina. Rason kung bakit ka kinakaibigan ng kapitbahay niyong gustong makikonek at malaman ang password ng wifi niyo. At kung sino naman ngayon dito sa mundo ang walang social media account ay hindi tao!

 

Sabi nga ng kabataan ngayon, ang Facebook daw ay kasama na sa Five Basic Necessities ng tao.

 

Sabi ng mga Sociologists, it is a healthy form of exercising our rights to free speech daw.

 

Pero tama pa ba ang nangyayari? Ito ba talaga ang kahulugan ng Social Networking? O may nakalimutan na tayong mga bagay na mas tamang gawin at mangyari?

 

Konekted ka ba talaga dahil sa mga Social Media? O isa ito sa mga dahilan kung bakit watak-watak tayo?

 

Limang dula na magpapamuat sa iyong mata na may malaking mundo na mas nangangailangan ng atensyon mo kaysa sa pagyuko sa gadget mo.”

Tanghalang Batingaw started to plant the seeds of passion for theater in Lyceum of the Philippines University way back on 1976 during the period of cultural paucity on campus. Founded and established by Oliver Andrade Pandile, an alumnus of LPU-Manila after being a graduate of Psychology is a stage actor, and were glorified in the spotlight at a very young age. He founded “Tanghalang Batingaw” on August 7, 1976. Eight elite founders took the former name of “Batingaw Ensemble” dedicated on uplifting our cultural identity as its heritage.
