THUMBS DOWN: Philippine Daily Inquirer Blasts Bloggers

When In Manila, there were once three big reliable journalistic papers that you could read. The Philippine Star, the Manila Bulletin and the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

I personally regard these three newspapers as legitimate and highly professional broadsheets that produce journalistic quality articles and reports.

So I have to admit, I’m a bit turned off by this recent post in the Inquirer. I really have no clue what to make of it. Is the inquirer trying to turn into a tabloid now to try and lure more readers? Are newspaper sales that bad or is the newspaper world that threatened by new media? Check out the article below:

Don’t we expect more from our “journalists?” Even WhenInManila.com never claims to be a full on “journalist” as we know that there are special rules, regulations, education and training that we bloggers do not have. But to just generalize bloggers like this is unfair and irresponsible.

I know of journalists who ask for money to provide un-noteworthy stories and clients more visibility in their pages. I know of stuck up, preppy, ass kissing journalists, and I also know of straight up corrupt idiots in print media, but that does not lead me to write an anonymous article on a “journalistic broadsheet” stereotyping and categorizing them with a “Thumbs Down.’”

Is it just me or is the Inquirer a tabloid now? No sources, no byline, no journalistic integrity, no class.

Hey, this can be a reality show-Inquirer Gone Tabloid.
