Sara Bareilles Will Star In The Musical She Wrote, Waitress

After working extensively backstage for the Broadway musical Waitress, singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will be in the spotlight as she takes over the lead role Jenna Hutcherson from Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller!

Sara wrote the score and soundtrack for Waitress, and she will be performing for a 10-week run from March 31 to June 11. While this will be Sara’s Broadway debut, the singer’s roots lie in theater and auditioned for the role of Cinderella in the Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Into The Woods — a role she lost to Jessie, coincidentally.

Sara first became known to the public with her single “Love Song” in 2007, earning her two Grammy nominations in 2009. Sara continued to receive Grammy nominations in 2011 for “King of Anything”, in 2014 for the album The Blessed Unrest and the single “Brave.” Her work for Waitress, landed her a Tony nomination for Best Score and a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album.
