The Jacksons in Manila After Almost 38 Years: Highlights from the Legendary Comeback!

February 13-19, 1976 – this week marked the last time The Jacksons, formerly known as Jackson 5, performed together in an official group tour. And guess where that happened? In the Folk Arts Theater and the Araneta Coliseum, Manila, Philippines.

Yes, you heard that right! It was right here in Manila when they held their final group tour called the “Final Jackson 5 Tour”. After almost 38 long years, the most successful family music act of the 70’s has made their legendary comeback! Dubbed by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy as the “the last big stars to come rolling off (his) assembly line”, I was really pumped up to hear that these legendary stars would be visiting the country for the concert last November 3 at the Solaire Resort & Casino Grand Ballroom! Imagine, thir-ty eight yeeeears…..

It was in the tail end of the 60’s when the name “Jackson” started to echo throughout homes in the United States as funk and pop-soul songs became hits among the groovy ones, especially songs from The Jacksons. “I Want You Back” , “ABC”, “I’ll be There”, “Blame It On The Boogie”, “Never Can Say Goodbye”, and “Dancing Machine” – do any of these songs sound familiar to you?

Even without their late great brother, the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, the remaining Jacksons surely made it a night to remember, especially in memory of Michael.
