Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams Joins the X-Men!

LOOK- The Cast of Game of Thrones Get New Looks for Season 7 6

It’s the case of colliding fandoms: Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark in the critically-acclaimed HBO show Game of Thrones, is joining the X-Men spinoff film New Mutants as Wolfsbane.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wolfsbane is “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.”

Coincidentally, Williams is the second Stark girl to join the X-Men universe. Her on-screen sister Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa, portrayed the telepath Jean Grey in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Turner won’t be joining New Mutants, but Williams will co-star with The Witch‘s Anya Taylor-Joy.

New Mutants is the first X-Men comics spinoff, launching the careers of Deadpool and a large group of mutants in Marvel Graphic Novel #4 in 1982. The following year, they got their own title, which lasted until 1991. It was rebooted in 2003 with a new group of characters.

The film is reported to be very loyal to its source material, and will feature Magik, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunspot, and Warlock. Professor X is set to make an appearance.

The film will be directed by Josh Boone, who also directed the adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars, and will premiere on April 13, 2018.
