Disney On Ice: A Magical Ice Festival with Disney’s Most Beloved Characters

Disney On Ice: A Magical Ice Festival with Disney's Most Beloved Characters

When I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to see Disney on Ice and see my favorite characters come to life. However, that wish never came true…until yesterday that is! For the first time in forever, I finally got to watch one of the most anticipated Christmas shows in the country and it was indeed as magical as promised. Dubbed as Disney On Ice: Magical Ice Festival, the two-hour show showcases amazing ice dancers featuring our beloved Disney characters such as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty and The Beast, Rapunzel from Tangled and of course, everyone’s favorite, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna from Frozen.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney on Ice: Magical Ice Festival began with Disney characters competing to be the next superstar in a talent show hosted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse together with Goofy and Donald Duck. As they introduced us to the world of The Little Mermaid, a magical feeling enveloped the entire coliseum. Everyone was in awe of Ariel as she glided on the ice to the tune of ‘Part of Your World’. Her transformation from a mermaid to a human was also nothing short of brilliant. When Sebastian came out and sang ‘Under The Sea’, magnificent glow-in-the-dark sea creatures filled the ice rink which made the performance even more amazing.

Afterwards, we entered the world of Tangled as Rapunzel and Flynn (Eugene) took us on an adventure inside their kingdom. Here, we also met Mother Gothel, Maximus and the band of singing thugs. They even let some of the kids join them on the ice which was kinda cool! The highlight of this bit was the floating lanterns that really made me feel like I was inside the story of Rapunzel; dreaming and singing with her. I even got a little teary-eyed when the song ‘I See The Light’ started playing.

After the awe-inspiring tale of Tangled and a short intermission, we moved on the classic love story of Beauty and The Beast. Though it’s a shortened version, it’s still the same tale as old as time. Seeing Belle, one of my favorite heroines of all time live and skating so gracefully on ice truly made the kid inside of me very happy. And who wouldn’t be amazed after seeing utensils and dishes dancing around during the ‘Be Our Guest’ part. Not to mention the amazing transformation of The Beast into a prince. It was definitely one of the best parts of the show.

Of course, what Magical Ice Festival would be complete without the highlight of the show: Princess Anna and Queen Elsa of Arandelle? Equipped with fake snow falling from above the rink, the magical world of Frozen truly came to life as each character showed off their ice-skating skills with flips, swerves and lots of tricks. It was really fun seeing a life-sized Olaf pondering what snow-folks like him would be doing ‘In Summer’. As Anna sang ‘Love is an Open Door’ and Elsa belted out ‘Let It Go’, little voices from the audience can be heard singing along. It was indeed one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

Disney on Ice proved once again that no one is ever too old for fairy tales. Not only did the kids enjoyed the entire show but I’ve also seen parents and young adults like me having a good old time. I sure am looking forward to next year’s show and probably make this an annual tradition with the entire family. This is definitely an event no Disney fan should ever miss!
