With the heat of the country’s upcoming elections, even international brands are not spared from the fighting spirit of the supporters of presidential candidates.
On March 6, Sunday, luxury fashion house Valentino posted a new video ad on Facebook. It featured award-winning actress Zendaya modeling the designer’s new pink collection in front of an all-pink backdrop.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Pinoys who came across the pink ad were quick to comment and speak about the association of the color pink with VP Leni Robredo. Many Pinoys also took the opportunity to speak about the power of women, especially with March being International Women’s Month.
On Twitter, many Robredo supporters joked about Zendaya donning the gorgeous pink Valentino suit on her way to the VP’s rally.
But aside from kakampinks, supporters of other presidential candidates also flocked to ad to comment, fighting for their own choice of candidate. Most Pinoy comments were lighthearted and all in good humor, but others seem to have taken it too seriously.
Many Filipinos actually left apologies on the Valentino ad, apologizing about how Pinoys hijacked the comments section for Philippine politics.
The pink ad was for the launch of Valentino’s all-pink collection by Italian fashion designer Pierpaolo Piccioli during Paris Fashion Week.
