Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter Ylona Garcia proudly revealed that she sang the Philippine National Anthem at the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Oakland Athletics game in California.
In an Instagram post, she talked about her experience and uploaded photos of her at the event and a video clip of her singing Lupang Hinirang.
“Nagkaroon ako ng pagkakataong kantahin ang Lupang Hinirang (Philippine National Anthem) sa palaro ng Dodgers!!” she captioned.

The former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate said she was initially nervous, knowing it was not her original song.
She continued, “Pero kahit na ganumpaman, ito ang kanta na nag-rerepresenta sa aking sarili at sa aking bansa. Sinigurado ko na nasa tamang tono, tamang oras at higit sa lahat galing sa aking puso ang pag kanta ko nito.”
Ylona concluded her post by hoping that she made Filipinos proud, “Sanaโy napasaya at napahanga ko kayo, mga kababayan. sana ay proud kayo, Pilipinas!!”

On its official Instagram account, the Los Angeles Dodgers also shared a photo of Ylona singing Lupang Hinirang dated August 3, including photos of several Filipino audiences and performers and Ezekiel Miller with the caption, “Celebrating Filipino Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium!”

Ylona started her career after winning the 2nd Teen Big Placer on Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition in 2015. She also released several tracks, such as Dahan Dahan Dahan Lang, O Pag-Ibig, and Don’t Go Changing.
In 2021, she signed with the American music label 88Rising, along with international artists NIKI, Rich Brian, and Joji.
