If hearing the word Marvel excites you, you’ll surely scream for joy when your hear this bit of news: Hong Kong Disneyland, as part of its growth as the ultimate hub for Marvel superhero action, just launched its newest attraction: Ant-man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! This is the first attraction in the world to feature two of our favorite Marvel superheroes: Ant-Man and The Wasp. It’s also amazing to know that this is the first ever Marvel attraction in a Disney park to feature a female superhero as a title character.

Hong Kong Government officials; Marvel Executives including the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige; Hong Kong Disneyland Park Executives; the movies Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed; and Ant-Man lead actor Paul Rudd were present during the launch of the attraction
Evangeline Lilly (who plays The Wasp) prepared a video message while Paul Rudd, Ant-Man himself, was there to grace the event.
The attraction is located inside the newly built S.H.I.E.L.D. Science and Technology Pavilion. It’s right beside the Stark Expo which lets Disneyland goers experience fighting alongside Iron Man in the Iron Man Experience; that’s another exciting reason to visit HK Disneyland!
If fighting evil isn’t enough for you, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! is an interactive adventure where you’ll fight alongside Ant-Man and The Wasp to defeat Arnim Zola, an evil artificial intelligence, and his army of Swarmbots. This Marvel story is a continuation of what happens inside the Iron Man Experience. Sounds cool, huh? It’s like helping our favorite superheroes in a mission!
We got to try the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! during the media launch and here’s what happens inside:
Upon entering the S.H.I.E.L.D. Science and Technology Pavilion, Iron Man calls Ant-Man and The Wasp to a critical mission to defend Hong Kong against Hydra’s attack while Arnim Zola attempts to steal the Data Core containing highly confidential information. From here, guests will meet a new Marvel character named Leslie Lam, a Hong Kong native, who was especially created for this attraction.
Guests will see the cutting-edge technology developed by S.H.I.E.L.D. This is the first time this has ever been showcased to the world, by the way.
Before diving into battle, you will also see the Secure Storage Vault for Alien & Weapon Technology inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. Pavilion that features 14 types of artifacts and research items from Marvel movies. Truly immersive and impressive!

The main event involves getting on the D/AGR, also known as the Dagger, the newest S.H.I.E.L.D. combat vehicle. The safety handles will automatically lock in, so you can enjoy the ride without worries. Once you sit down, you need to immediately get a hold of your EMP Blasters! This will serve as your weapon to shoot the Swarmbots and fulfill the mission with Ant-Man and The Wasp. Your goal is to protect the data core and fight the Swarmbots at all costs. So exciting!

The Dagger will eventually take you to the data core to fight; but along the way, you’ll need to kill as many Swarmbots as you can. The goal is to shoot the core of these heavily-armed and armored robots in exchange for points. The more Swarmbots you shoot, the more points you get. Top Tip: watch out for Swarmbots above you and at your sides!

At some point, you’ll shrink into an insect-like size like Ant-Man and The Wasp, too! How? That’s for you to find out and experience it yourself. (winks)

You’ll see your points at the end of the game and you can even make bets with your friends and ride it all over again! My companions and I tried the attraction three times until our arms got cramps because of too much shooting! Fun is an understatement; the ride is just so addicting.

The end of the ride isn’t the absolute end, though. You can still satisfy your Ant-Man and The Wasp hangover at the Marvel merchandise store upon exiting the attraction. Here, you’ll find a lot of exclusive Marvel merchandise you shouldn’t miss! I got myself some cute Ant-Man and The Wasp Tsum Tsums. Also, the Ant-Man and The Wasp-themed snacks and beverages are must-tries when you drop by Starliner Diner a few steps away.

For me, the best thing about Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! is the cinematic appeal for kids, kids-at-heart, and all Marvel fans. It’s all the more enjoyable if you try it with your friends and family! I personally felt thrilled and proud for fighting alongside these superheroes!
As expected from Disney, this new attraction is a larger-than-life set that’s applaudable, attractive, and action-packed. In this attraction itself, you’ll realize that your HK Disneyland ticket was well worth the money.
