[WORKSHOP] Photographic Essay with Paco Guerrero

PHOTOG ESSAY2018 wheninmanila

During this 2 day workshop, we will be exploring how photography can become a powerful narrative tool in the form of the classic photo essay.

Looking back at the origins of the first documentary photographs, we will study the work of W. Eugene Smith and his work for Life Magazine.

Using this working knowledge, the photo essay participants will be given a chance to work on their own image sets by embedding at several locations around Makati. The objective is to give participants a taste of what the challenges are when shooting a short photo essay.

The second day will be dedicated to the discipline of editing.

Participants will be asked to bring in prints of their work from the previous day’s shoot and will go through the selection process that leads to a Photo Essay.

Participants will need:

  • A digital camera – DSLR, Mirrorless or point and shoot.
  • Basic photographic knowledge
  • Access to a computer. Participants will be asked to print some of their works.

The workshop fee is P 4,800 inclusive of materials, handouts, snacks, one-day free access to the Ayala Museum and Filipinas Heritage Library. The deadline for reservations is on January 7, 2018.

Early bird, museum members, and Acentives members can avail of a 10% discount.
