There are rumors online that there might be a Joker 2 soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Todd Phillips is allegedly negotiating with the studio to return for a Joker sequel. Moreover, Joaquin Phoenix is allegedly likely to return and continue exploring the creation of DC’s most famous villain.
However, Deadline reported that “at this point, there are no deals for a sequel, nor even any negotiations with director Todd Phillips or his co-writer Scott Silver to craft one.”
Hence, the stories spreading online are merely rumors for now.
Still, in the financial sense, after becoming a billion-dollar-grossing film, it is very possible that Joker will get a sequel.
However, for the time being, “Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver have made no real moves to draft the further dark rise of Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck character, or even to make a deal to do that,” Deadline added.
