So, Ariana Grande Didn’t Win the ‘Midsommar’ May Queen Dress Auction — Here’s Who Did

In case you didn’t know, the iconic May Queen dress from beloved horror film Midsommar directed by Ari Aster went up for auction last month for the benefit of charities in New York City fighting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

In the weeks since then, many fans have taken to social media to gush over the beautiful costume that was “decorated with 10,000 hand-glued silk flowers, including fake forget-me-nots, sweet peas, meadow buttercups, cornflowers, and Persian jewels” and worn by the film’s lead actress Florence Pugh.

Even singers Ariana Grande and Halsey couldn’t hold back from expressing how much they wanted to own the dress.

Sadly, the dress went to neither of them (though it’s unknown whether or not they did enter the auction in the first place). Instead, it was sold to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which is currently still under construction, for a whopping USD 65,000 (approximately PHP 3.3 Million)!

One hundred percent of proceeds from the successful auction of Midsommar items, including this May Queen dress, will go to the FDNY Foundation, which supports New York City firefighters and their families affected by the current pandemic.

The auction was organized by US independent studio A24.
