A popular festival is the Nacht der Museen or Night of the Museums in April or May, where all 30 museums in the city are open the whole night for performances, readings, and guided tours. Every August, three million people visit the Main riverbank for Museumsuferfest, where all 20 museums stay open late, stage live music, and set up booths selling crafts, clothes, and food from around the world.

2. Party! For clubbers, there’s the Nacht der Clubs or Night of the Clubs, where you can visit 20 bars for only €12. If you can’t attend the Nacht der Clubs, Frankfurt has bars, pubs, and clubs in the Ostend district. Eurodance and trance traces its roots in the city, so you’re sure to love this place if you listen to those genres. Don’t forget to get a glass (or more) of Apfelwein or apple wine!

1. Go on a shopping spree! Frankfurt is a shopper’s paradise, as it is home to shopping streets for every style and every budget. Zeil, known as the Fifth Avenue of Germany, is home to fast fashion brands, while Goethestraße has luxury brands. If you’re into art, secondhand books, and antiques, Braubachstraße is your go-to place. Make sure to also check out Berger Straße’s independent brands, Münchener Straße’s multicultural wares, and Kleinmarkthalle for fresh food and flowers, as well as regional fare. Every Sunday, the Schaumainkai Street is cleared for Frankfurt’s largest flea market.
