What Would Happen if Anderson, Bay, Tarantino, and Cuaron Directed Food Tutorials?

Big-name directors have developed a signature style that distinguishes themselves from other filmmakers. Tim Burton uses dark and gloomy themes in his films, while Sofia Coppola uses rock music and dreamlike sequences to convey a story. When you enter the cinema and watch a movie directed by these two (and other filmmakers with a signature aesthetic), you know what to expect.

It’s quite interesting when you take these directors and apply their styles to something completely different, like a food tutorial. That’s what food stylist and video maker David Ma did when he tried to imagine what it would be like for auteurs to direct food tutorials. The results are interesting.

Check it out below:

Wes Anderson

Wes Anderson’s s’mores would be like his films: twee, romantic, and filled with pastel colors. Don’t forget his love for symmetry!

Alfonso Cuaron

Alfonso Cuaron’s pancakes involves long takes, creating a weightless and atmospheric mood.

Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino would use vivid colors, striking music, and lots and lots of violence (perfect for spaghetti and meatballs’ use of tomato sauce).

Michael Bay

Michael Bay’s version of waffles would have one thing: tons of explosions.
