What Do You Think of Having a Dedicated ‘Department of Sports’?

Department of Sports - edit

The Olympic Games Rio 2016 will come to an end soon and we’ll have another four years to prepare for it when it comes in Tokyo.

However, it is apparent that the Philippines have been lagging behind in this sporting event for so long. Actually, we still haven’t won any gold yet ever.

So, what do you think of the Philippines having a dedicated Department of Sports?

According to Manila Bulletin, there is an active movement pushing for the creation of Department of Sports. When this pushes through, the department will head promotion and development of sports in the country.

Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles (1st District, Davao City) and PBA Partylist Rep. Jericho Jonas Nograles proposed for a House Bill named “Department of Sports Act”.

The bill aims to address the need for an overall sports committee in the country.

The department, when created, will strengthen partnerships to improve Philippine sports teams by addressing old training methods and lack of modern sports equipment and facilities. It will also be in close coordination with coaches, trainers, and sports officials to improve their performance.

When this is approved, a Secretary for the department will be appointed by the President.
