The Interagency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) and malls around Metro Manila agreed to prohibit mall sales on weekdays from October 21 to January 9, 2017 in order to ease the anticipated traffic jams in the metro from the Christmas season, according to local reports.
According to reports, malls now have to submit their traffic plans to I-ACT two weeks ahead of any planned sales.
The MMDA said that average traffic speed along EDSA drops to as low as 5 kph, whenever there’s a mall sale. 16 malls are located on the major highway.
