In case you haven’t heard, the world’s largest furniture retailer IKEA has been getting ready for its long-awaited launch in the Philippines. Located between SMX Convention Center and Mall of Asia Arena and built to be the size of 150 basketball courts, IKEA Manila is set to be the largest IKEA branch in the whole world employing at least 500 workers and employees.
IKEA Manila was supposed to open this year but, due to construction interruptions following the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 became the new target year of the store’s launch. Now, we’ve finally learned when exactly it will be opening and it’s time to mark our calendars!
The exact date was revealed in an online interview between vlogger James Deakin and IKEA Philippines’ market development manager Georg Platzer on Deakin’s online talk show Tito’Clock. It turns out that prior to the opening of the actual store, IKEA will first be launching an e-commerce shop where Filipinos can safely and conveniently browse and purchase from its catalog of furniture items in the comfort of their homes starting July 2021!
This will be followed by the physical opening of IKEA Manila nine weeks after the e-commerce store, sometime between September and October 2021. It may seem like it’s still so far away, but it’ll definitely be worth the wait!

IKEA Manila is planned to be composed of two floors, consisting of the market hall, the showrooms, and IKEA-owned restaurants, as well as a huge warehouse and its own parking space. It was initially announced that it will have a product catalog of 9,000 well-designed items that are ready-to-assemble upon purchase.
