If you like offbeat comedies or dramas, you’re probably a fan of Woody Allen’s work. And if you’re not familiar but want to explore a new genre, you can start with Annie Hall, Manhattan, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine before moving on to his impressive filmography of 47 films (which he has directed), or at least one film per year since 1982.
Most of his films deal with existential drama and unusual romance, and his new comedy Café Society will dispense it in trademark Allen flair.
Café Society is a comedy set in the Hollywood café culture of the 1930′s. The film stars Steve Carrell as a film industry executive, who takes his nephew Jesse Eisenberg under his wing. Eisenberg navigates life in the West Coast as he meets a motley crew of LA natives like Blake Lively, Parker Posey, and Kristen Stewart.
It is set to premiere as the opening film of the 69th Cannes Film Festival in France next month, followed by a general release in August 2016.
