Today is the day of DC Fandome, and with it comes a lot of amazing releases for fans of DC! The first panel this morning at 1AM was all about Wonder Woman and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, the upcoming sequel to the 2017 movie. Aside from interviews with the main cast where they answered questions from fans and where professional tennis player Venus Williams and the OG Wonder Woman Linda Carter made special appearances, they also showcased cosplays and fan art from around the world.
Of course, they also released the trailer to the much-awaited sequel; and in it, we finally get to see what Kristen Wiig looks like as Cheetah. In case you haven’t seen it yet, you may watch the trailer here:
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it, though. To be honest, it kind of reminds me of the movie version of ‘Cats’… and that’s not really a good thing. She’s pretty bad-ass, though, stopping Wonder Woman’s lasso like that.
As always, the costumes look absolutely stunning and even the characters’ outfits really take us back to the 80s. They still haven’t revealed how Chris Pine comes back from the dead, so I guess we’ll have to wait until the movie comes out to find out.
Of course, one of the biggest reasons to watch ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is for female empowerment. As Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman in the movies, points out in the discussion: “We’ve seen so many male superheroes, but we haven’t seen enough female superheroes. For little girls… once they see it, they believe it. For little girls to be exposed to these types of movies, whether it’s ‘Wonder Woman’ or any other female-driven movie in the genre, it’s so important. It’s so empowering.’
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is set to be released in October 2020.
