WATCH: Video of Turtle Hatchlings Will Give You Hope

A few days ago, at the break of dawn, a batch of pawikan eggs hatched in San Juan, La Union and were released back to sea. The protection of the pawikan nest is an initiative by Project CURMA (Coastal Underwater Resource Management Actions) also known as the Pawikan Conservation and Protection Program.

The public-private partnership of the San Juan LGU, DOT, DENR and HOLCIM and Science of Identity Foundation has been protecting pawikan nests for years now. This batch had a very successful 90% hatch rate. They’re looking for volunteers too!

Would you be up to volunteer for Project CURMA?
