A few days ago, at the break of dawn, a batch ofย pawikanย eggs hatched in San Juan, La Union and were released back to sea. The protection of theย pawikanย nest is an initiative byย Project CURMA (Coastal Underwater Resource Management Actions) also known as the Pawikan Conservation and Protection Program.
The public-private partnership of the San Juan LGU, DOT, DENR and HOLCIM and Science of Identity Foundation has been protectingย pawikanย nests for years now. This batch had a very successful 90% hatch rate. They’re looking for volunteers too!
