Most people know Tacloban because of Typhoon Yolanda, but there is so much more to this place that is left to be explored.

Claude Evangelista recently traveled to Tacloban with Air Asia for a familiarisation tour. “After the Yolanda typhoon and its calamities, people did not expect a lot from region 8; but when we got there, the beauty of its islands and people was far beyond than what we expected,” Claude gushes.

Claude shares that they did a lot of different activities there – activities that other people might not think region 8 could offer. “We sat and watched the cars pass by the San Juanico Bridge, toured around inside the Sohoton caves, kayaked the Golden River and climbed different rock formations ranging from 15- to 60-ft in the nature bridge, we jumped out them and swam into its fresh water,” Claude shares. “We then headed out to northern Samar to the overwhelmingly eye catching Biri islands, climbed different rock formations and took a dip into their natural pools. We had our last stop at Digyo Island located at Southern Leyte, had lunch and took a relaxing swim on its sand bars.” Watch Claude’s video here:

“Region 8 is the best place for people who want the perfect balance of sightseeing and adrenaline packed activities,” Claude says. “If you want to discover a different side of the Philippines, region 8 would be the perfect place to start.”

Tacloban is definitely on my travel bucket list now. Who’s with me? 🙂
