Who knew that the best Adidas ad would be one that wasn’t made by the company itself?
26-year-old Eughen Merher, a student director from Germany, put together this brilliantly made mock Adidas ad that has an excellent narrative that it’s not hard to see why it’s made the internet cry.
The commercial depicts an old man in a retirement home who yearns to go out and relive his glory days as a marathon runner in his old Adidas sneakers. Caretakers from his home thwart his attempts to sneak out and run again, even confiscating his sneakers at one point, but his friends help him finally break free.
And here’s the best part: according to Eugen, he did actually try to get in touch with Adidas for his heartwarming ad — but to no avail.
“We tried sending it to [Adidas’] communications department but they didn’t really react.”
With over 2 million views on his Youtube page, looks like Adidas is going to have to think twice about that snub.
