As a gay man, it feels awkward to display acts of affection. A simple arm around my partner’s shoulder can inspire curious glances, so imagine what would happen if I hold his hand in public. Ideally, I would just shrug it off, but in an ideal world, public displays of affection from two men (or two women) shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
This month, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) community are celebrating Pride Month to get together and celebrate their gender identity and expression. Many companies are celebrating with the community, and one of them is Victoria Court, a local hotel chain.
To celebrate Pride Month, they released a digital ad to promote inclusivity in their chain of hotels.

The video starts with a straight couple sharing the things that they love about each other. The video then shifts, showing the lead actor with his boyfriend and the lead actress with her girlfriend. It ends with the hashtag #EveryonesWelcomeHere.
In a society where people are judged for their sexual preferences, it’s nice to know that there are brands that accept and support us for what we are. It feels nice to be welcomed.
