Mean Girls Musical

One of the most iconic films in pop culture is Mean Girls, and it’s getting the musical treatment as it will soon hit the stage. The news was confirmed by the film’s official Facebook and Twitter account on October 3 last year, an important day in Mean Girls canon. Now, there’s a video of the Plastics promoting the musical and it sure looks fun!

Watch it below:

Taylor Louderman is playing the iconic role of Regina George, and she will be joined by Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith, and Ashley Park as Gretchen Wieners.

The musical will be a collaboration between Tony Award-winning lyricist Nell Benjamin, Mean Girls screenwriter Tina Fey, and her husband Jeffrey Richmond.

It will premiere on October 31 at D.C.’s National Theatre before going to Broadway.

Mean Girls came out in 2004 and deals with high school life through the eyes of Cady Heron, who was previously homeschooled in Africa. Rotten Tomatoes said that it is “funnier and more smartly written than the average teen comedy,” and it has become a pop culture phenomenon.
