WATCH: The US Embassy in PH Posts Video Showing They Are #FriendsPartnersAllies

The US Embassy in Manila, Philippines posted a video on their Facebook page that shows “why they train.”

The video showed how the US immediately launched help called “Oplan Damayan” during Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). It mentioned that for that relief effort, the US deployed 13,400 troops, 66 aircraft, and 12 ships that helped evacuate more 21,000 Filipinos to safety. They also said on the video that they brought in doctors and medical supplies, and provided food and shelter for millions who were affected. They also helped restore water service.

In summary of the video, it mentioned that the US donated “an estimated P7 billion to help those affected by Typhoon Yolanda.”

Words of the gratitude from Filipinos were shown towards the end of the video.

Also, it mentioned that three years after that devastating typhoon, the US is still helping in the rebuilding efforts in the areas affected.

The video ended with President Barack Obama saying, “one of our core principles is, when friends are in trouble, America helps.”
