The Stand Stephen King

As we live in a time where the whole world is dealing with COVID-19, it’s timely that a series about a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a virus is going to come out. Recently, we were treated to the first trailer of Stephen King’s The Stand, which is going to be turned into a mini-series.

Watch it below:

The Stand follows the survivors of a new world destroyed by a weaponized strain of influenza. It is considered as one of King’s best novels, and was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1979.

The series stars James Marsden, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear, Odessa Young, Henry Zaga, Whoopi Goldberg, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Daniel Sunjata, Marilyn Manson, Alexander Skarsgård, Nat Wolff, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater, Heather Graham, Irene Bedard, Natalie Martinez, Luca Batista, Fiona Dourif, and Clifton Collins Jr.

Reports say that this version of The Stand will have a new ending. Purists won’t have to worry as the ending will be written by King himself.

A mini-series was made in 1994, which featured 125 speaking roles, 225 sets, and a $6 million budget per episode. From 2008 to 2012, Marvel developed a series of comics written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who later developed the shows Riverdale, Katy Keene, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The upcoming adaptation of The Stand will premiere on December 17 at CBS All Access.
