One of the series we’re excited to watch is the TV adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
It was recently announced that the series will be called The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
It’s set to be a prequel and is set thousands of years before the trilogy we know and love.
According to showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the show “unites all the major stories of Middle-Earth’s second age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.”
They added, “Until now, audiences have only seen onscreen the story of the One Ring — but before there was one, there were many … and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.”
It sounds exciting but what truly caught our attention is the behind-the-scenes footage of the opening credits. The opening credits look fantastic, and it’s not made with CGI! A clip was shared on IGN Movie Trailer’s YouTube page and you can watch it below:
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now considered the most expensive show of all time. According to reports, the first season alone cost $465 million.
The show will premiere on Amazon this September.
