It’s been a while since we last had a good science fiction film, and it looks like Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set to fill that void. The film, which stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as special operatives, will be out later this year, and a breathtaking trailer has just been released.
Watch it below:
The trailer shows DeHaan and Delevingne as Valerian and Laureline, who must protect Alpha, a growing city of a thousand planets where species from across the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence, and cultures. Besson created a stunning world filled with strange alien creatures, bright colors, and lots of action.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on a French science fiction comics series called Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières. It was published from 1967 to 2010.
The film adaptation is set to be released on July 21, 2017.
