WATCH: Since You’re Not Allowed to Scream in Amusement Parks, Here’s How You Ride a Rollercoaster

Scream Roller Coaster

When COVID-19 became a full-blown pandemic, amusement parks all over the world closed down. After all, parks can get crowded during peak seasons, making it difficult to follow social distancing guidelines.

Good news for amusement park lovers since many are reopening. In Japan, there’s one important rule: “Have guests wear masks, and urge them to refrain from shouting/ screaming.”

This seems like a sensible rule. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, spreads easily between people who are in close contact, through respiratory droplets released when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly could be inhaled into their lungs.”

So how do you stop yourself from screaming, especially when you’re on a roller coaster? The Fuji-Q Highland park in Fujiyoshida has an idea. They released an instructional video featuring two executives riding a roller coaster at 80 miles an hour.

Watch it below:

The end of the video says, in Japanese, “Please scream inside your heart.”
