WATCH: Police Attempt to Arrest Man in His Own Home in a Private Subdivision Without a Warrant

Makati Police Arrest

A video captured by JTF CV Shield is making the rounds of social media, showing a policeman attempting to arrest a man in his own home in Dasmarinas Village, Makati.

The policeman was asking for a P1,000 fine because the helper was not wearing a mask while watering the plants. The police attempted to arrest him while his wife recorded the incident.  In the video, she can be heard saying that the man has a back injury and that they don’t have a warrant to arrest him.

The altercation ended when the man’s wife urged him to go inside the house. According to a report by Rappler, the policeman left not long after.

Now, Makati police are set to file charges against the foreign resident. According to Makati police chief Col. Rogelio Simon, the village association and barangay called the police to complain about residents violating the quarantine guidelines.

Earlier this month, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director Gen. Archie Gamboa said that they will practice maximum tolerance during the enhanced community quarantine, after a police officer was recorded hitting a resident who violated the community quarantine guidelines.

Yesterday, CT-CIS Party-List Rep. Niña Taduran mentioned the importance of a comprehensive psychological training among law enforcers, after another officer was recorded fatally shooting Private First Class Winston Ragos.

Taduran said, “Maximum tolerance should have been observed in dealing with violators of the enhanced community quarantine especially at this time when everyone’s getting agitated and depressed because of the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation.”
