Nat King Cole is a legendary jazz singer and pianist whose soft, baritone voice charmed millions of listeners through his songs “The Christmas Song,” “Unforgettable,” “When I Fall in Love,” and “Smile.” For a career that spanned three decades from 1935 to 1965, he did extremely well, selling 50 million records.
What many do not know is that Cole recorded a cover of “Dahil Sa Iyo,” a song written by Miguel Velarde, Jr. in 1938. This love song is one of the most popular, and has been translated to English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and other Filipino dialects.
Cole sang a beautiful rendition of this song in 1961, when he visited Manila to perform at the Araneta Coliseum. He passed away four years later. Just last December, his daughter Natalie Cole also passed away.

Would have been better if the creator of this video put in still pictures of the great Nat King Cole. Still sounds great, though.
