Imelda Marcos The Crown

The fourth season of The Crown was just released and its third episode briefly talked about Former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

In the scene, Princess Margaret, the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II, said, “So, there we are in Manila, in the middle of a state banquet, when who barges into the room? None other than Imelda Marcos.”

She added, “She makes a beeline straight for me, saying she’s desperate to show me her … wait for it …”

Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth’s daughter, responded, “Shoe collection.” She is then corrected by Margaret, who continued, “shell collection.”

Watch the scene below:

Princess Margaret was in the Philippines in April of 1980 on behalf of the Queen. During her trip, she visited the tomb of Jose Rizal, inaugurated the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and had an official dinner at the Malacanang Palace in Manila. She also visited the United Nation’s Indochinese Refugee Camp and attended a reception at the British Embassy.

The Crown‘s fourth season is the latest installment of the hit Netflix series that follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth. She was portrayed by Claire Foy in the first two seasons, and is played by Olivia Colman in seasons three and four. Its latest offering has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the website, “Whatever historical liberties The Crown takes in its fourth season are easily forgiven thanks to the sheer power of its performances – particularly Gillian Anderson’s imposing take on The Iron Lady and newcomer Emma Corrin’s embodiment of a young Princess Diana.”
