Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate and GirlTrends member Dawn Chang has officially announced that she will no longer be part of the girl group.
Early this week, Dawn posted a YouTube vlog where she got “brutally honest” about a number of topics, including her departure from GirlTrends.

“No, I am no longer part of GT,” she revealed. “I’ve been dancing for 17 years now and being a performer is a huge, huge responsibility. I am supposed to share my talent and entertain. I am supposed to give an enjoyable and memorable experience to the audience. And I feel that I am not able to able to fulfill those duties and responsibilities as a performer when I am with GT.”
Dawn was already a professional dancer when she joined Pinoy Big Brother in 2015.
“Mastering an art takes a lifetime. You need consistent training, you need consistent practice, you need a very strong foundation, and a very strong discipline para mag succeed o para gumaling ka,” she continued. “In all fairness, we have to give credit to these girls because they are trying their best. But I feel that we are not on the same page.”
Dawn also mentioned that reaching 30 years of age has made her want to “relieve myself from the group and start doing things on my own.”

She expressed her excitement over this new chapter of her life knowing that she’s on her way to becoming much “better than yesterday.”
“For me, it’s not about the fame, it’s not about the fortune. It’s about the principle. If one day I become a very, very good performer, fame and fortune will come next. But for now, I want growth,” she added.

She then made a separate announcement on her Instagram, where she wrote: “It has been three roller coaster years for me. I may not be part of GT anymore but I will forever be an advocate of women empowerment. I no longer live my life in fear and I’m ready to share the rest of me to the world, on my own. GT Dawn Chang signing off.”

The current roster of GirlTrends includes Chienna Filomeno, Joana Hipolito, Krissha Viaje, Mica Javier, Mikee Agustin, Jessica Marasigan, and Sammie Rimando.
