One of the most popular holiday tales is of The Grinch, a fictional green-hued character that hates Christmas. In the Dr. Seuss children’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, he attempts to end the holidays by stealing Christmas-themed items in the neighbouring town of Whoville. It was adapted into a live-action film in 2000 and now it will get a reboot, with Benedict Cumberbatch providing the voice to the Grinch!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of Dr. Seuss’s most popular works, with the School Library Journal naming it as number 61 of the Top 100 Picture Books in 2012. Reviews have also been positive, with the New York Times praising its illustrations, prose, and moral implications.

The 2000 film was a box office success and even won the Academy Award for Best Makeup. It starred Jim Carrey as the Grinch and he was joined by Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, and Molly Shannon. It was narrated by Anthony Hopkins.

The new adaptation voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch will premiere on November 9.
