WATCH: Arwind Santos apologizes for racist gesture, gets P200k fine

San Miguel Beer player Arwind Santos posted a video of himself apologizing for his racist gesture toward TNT import Terrence Jones in Game Five of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

This comes after Santos was caught on camera mimicking a monkey following a foul called against Jones. The incident occurred late in the first half of Game Five.

On Thursday, Santos posted the video on Twitter and directed his apology to Jones, fans of both teams, and the PBA.

Watch it below.

“I don’t mean anything bad for you. I hope you forgive me. I wanna say sorry again,” Santos said in the video.

“Gusto ko humingi ng taos-pusog patawad sa mga fans ng Talk n Text, San Miguel, PBA at sa lahat ng mga nasaktan. Wala po akong masamang intensiyon. Inaamin ko po, mali po ako. Sorry po. Sana mapatawad niyo po ako,” he added.

Additionally, the PBA issued a P200,000 fine on Santos for the racist gesture. He will also be required to render 100 hours of community service and undergo seminar and counseling on equality and racial discrimination.
