WATCH American Video Blogger Tries Snacks From Palawan

We Filipinos have such a close relationship with food that one of our favorite questions to visiting foreigners is: Have you tried (insert food here)? Whether it’s the infamous balut or our favorite delicacy, we love it when foreigners try our native dishes.

Hilah Johnson, who runs the webshow Hilah Cooking, tried some of Palawan’s best through a segment called “Put It In My Mouth.” In the clip, the host tries hot chili fried anchovies, cashew nougat, cashew tarts, taro chips, ube piaya (which she calls honey pancakes), dried guyabano, and banana candy. Out of the seven snacks she tried, she liked the taro chips the best.

Watch her try it out below:

Johnson and her partner Christopher Sharpe describe Hilah Cooking as “short-form, educational, and occasionally hilarious cooking videos geared towards beginner and intermediate cooks, as well as people who are just looking for simple, low-cost recipes.”
