WATCH: All 5 Teasers of the Live Action Adaptation of Ghost in the Shell

One of the most-awaited movies of 2017 is the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, a Japanese media franchise that began as a manga drawn by Masamune Shirow in 1989. The story follows a counter-cyberterrorist organization called Public Security Section 9, led by the Major in 21st century Japan.

In 2008, DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg acquired the rights to the film, and it was announced that it would be released on March 31, 2017.

Paramount recently released five teasers to drum up excitement, and fans will be pleased to see favorites like Kusanagi and Chief Aramaki.

Watch the teasers below:

The live-adaptation will star Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, Michael Pitt, Takeshi Kitano, Chin Han, Lasarus Ratuere, and Juliette Binoche.

The casting of Johansson as the Major drew criticism from fans who accused the producers of whitewashing the film by hiring a white actress to play an Asian  role. However, Sam Yoshiba, director of the international business division at Kodansha, the company that owns the rights to the franchise, said, “Looking at her career so far, I think Scarlett Johansson is well cast. She has the cyberpunk feel. And we never imagined it would be a Japanese actress in the first place… This is a chance for a Japanese property to be seen around the world.”
