Most of us, if not all, have at least a loved one or even a distant relative working abroad. The search for a greener pasture is almost always found oceans away and huge sacrifices are made to pursue it.
Overseas Filipino Workers, or OFWs, are considered as the “bagong bayani” or modern heroes. We have heard many stories about them, some bring us joy while others break our hearts. Still, there are many who try to help bridge the gap between families left in the country and people working overseas. In the past, there was an OFW Project, which gave OFWs who haven’t been home for a long time an opportunity to see their families. Recently, tools have also been made available to bring OFWs closer to their families this Holiday season despite the long distance.
A netizen posted a video message saluting all Pinoys working abroad, commending all the sacrifices they make to earn a living for their families here in the Philippines.

If you have loved ones who work abroad, please make sure to always check with them and ask them how they have been. It’s difficult to be alone to earn a living in a foreign country. Make sure to make them feel loved all the time.
