Those of us who grew up in the ’90s are familiar with the TV show Pokemon, where we watched Ash Ketchum train to become a Pokemon master. We watched as he formed a bond with Pikachu, gave up Butterfree, and beat gym leaders. While we have our own favorite moments in the show (this writer’s is the Butterfree scene), one of the highlights of watching Pokemon is listening to the theme song. Who here doesn’t know the lyrics to heart even after the first season ended 17 years ago?
Iskala, an all-male a cappella group, made a great cover of the Pokemon theme song. Composed of Coco San Luis, Myr Flores, Don Romualdo, Kikz Tan, and Pat Secopito, they started when San Luis wanted to join the Akapela competition last year. They placed in the top 10.
