A mentor once said that traveling around the world gives you the opportunity to learn the culture and distinguish the authenticity of the food. I absolutely agree. Through gastronomic experiences from other places, I was able to unleash my potential in cooking.
However, I am limited to kitchenware and not enough space to cook freely and document it.
Luckily, our friends from B Hotel Quezon City were kind enough to let us use their kitchen. On top of that, their Executive Chef showcased his tips on pulling off a delicious grilled Angus Beef and buttered prawns!
So, here are 4 of the quickest and easiest dishes you can serve your family and friends anytime, anywhere.
1. Grilled Angus Rib Eye with Aligot Mashed Potato and Red Wine Sauce
- Rib Eye
- Salt/pepper
- Tomato Ketchup
- Soy Sauce
- Olive Oil
Mashed Potato
- 2-4 pieces of potatoes (Depending on how many guests you have. In this video, we only used two for presentation purposes only)
- Milk
- salt/pepper
What is Aligot?
According to Chef, Aligot is a dish made from cheese blended into mashed potatoes. It’s popular in France. The texture is like fondue and a common sight in Auvergne restaurants.
Red Wine Sauce
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- beef broth
- minced garlic
- chopped onions

2. Filipino Grilled Prawn with Garlic and Cheese
Once again, the quantity depends on the number of expected guests. In my experience, when I am hosting a family of 4, 1.5 kgs of Prawns are fine. But, since we just documented this for you, we just used three pieces of prawns.
Ingredients:
- prawns
- salt/pepper
- butter
- cheese
Tip: If you don’t have an oven, pre-heat the Teflon pan for a minute. Place the prawns on top of the pan and wait until the meat is cooked or the color changed to orange. Use quick melt cheese for easier and faster cooking. I don’t have an oven at home. My Teflon and ceramic pans are my best friends!
3. Pesto Pasta
Pesto pasta is the easiest dish to make. Watch it to appreciate.
- Penne noodles
- Parmesan cheese
- Olive Oil
- Basil Pesto
- Garlic
4. All-Star Meat Pizza
Pizza is the easiest and quickest food you can serve to anyone!
- red/green bell pepper
- pizza sauce
- mozzarella cheese
- pepperoni (or hotdog)
- mushroom
- bacon (optional)
- onion
Truly, food brings everyone to the table.
