VP Robredo: ‘Nanays’ from Smokey Moutain and Payatas produce over 42,000 PPEs

The collective fight against the further spread of the new coronavirus continues.

The government and the private sector all give their own contributions to this collective fight.

President Rodrigo Duterte, several members of the House of Representatives, and even the officials of the City of Manila have pledged a month of their salaries for the COVID-19 fight.

There are no small contributions when it comes to fighting the fatal effects of the new coronavirus. Even the simple act of heeding the government’s order of staying home is already a huge contribution to this fight.

Vice-President Leni Robredo announced on Facebook on Monday that Gawad Kalinga Nanays from Smokey Mountain and the Nanays from Payatas are also contributing in our combat against COVID-19.

“So happy to receive these pictures from the communities sewing our PPEs – these are the Gawad Kalinga Nanays from Smokey Mountain and the Nanays from Payatas. All of them are very proud to be involved in this project,” the vice-president wrote.

“As of today, we have already delivered more than 42,000 sets of PPEs in hundreds of hospitals all over the country. We are set to deliver more,” she added.

Robredo called this act as “real bayanihan spirit in action.”

About 23,000 official COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the Philippines, a health official said Monday.

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, out of the 22,958 tests as of Sunday, 3,246 are confirmed COVID-19 cases, while there have been 64 recoveries and 152 fatalities.
